Officiant

Finding the right person to preside over your ceremony

Couples may choose their own clergy person or public official to officiate their ceremony in the Princeton University Chapel. The Dean and Associate Dean of the Chapel are available to officiate ceremonies but only as their calendars permit. If you would like one of them to officiate, please notify the Chapel Administrator (Patricia Florek, [email protected]) as early as possible in your planning process and she will let you know if one is available for your ceremony.

Officiant for Roman Catholics: Roman Catholics must submit a written request to the Chaplain at the Aquinas Institute  (Fr. Zackary Swantek, [email protected]) at least one year prior to the marriage for further instructions.  Since Diocesan guidelines regarding the location of wedding ceremonies apply, Roman Catholic couples should not assume that permission to be married in the Chapel will be granted. Please contact the University Organist (Eric D. Plutz, [email protected]) upon signing the Wedding Agreement, due to the number of musical details involved in a Roman Catholic service.

Officiant for Episcopalians: Episcopalians who wish to use a minister from outside the campus must inform the Chaplain of the Episcopal Church at Princeton, (Fr. Allen M. Wakabayashi, [email protected]) at least six months prior to the marriage. Please contact the University Organist (Eric D. Plutz, [email protected]) upon signing the Wedding Agreement, due to the number of musical details involved in an Episcopal service.

Officiant for Orthodox Christians: Orthodox Christians who wish to use a minister from outside the campus must inform the Chaplain of the Orthodox Christian Church at Princeton (Fr. Daniel J. Skvir, [email protected]) at least six months prior to the marriage Please contact the University Organist (Eric D. Plutz, [email protected]) upon signing the Wedding Agreement, due to the number of musical details involved in an Orthodox Christian wedding.
